Topfest 2009
Zelená voda – Nové Mesto nad Váhom, 26–27 June 2009
Limp Bizkit will embellish, with their performance, the 6th year of one of the most popular music festivals in Slovakia. After the bands Slayer, Babyshambles, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Skin, and Therapy the organisers succeeded in achieving what each promoter of a good rock festival sets out to achieve – to get Fred Durst and his band on their stage in the year of their comeback. Limp Bizkit will perform in the initial composition.

Šangri-la
Slovak National Museum, Bratislava, 6 March –12 July 2009
The spectacular exposition consists of several interconnected sections.   It is structured according to the book written by Pavol Bém and Rudolf Švaříček, Third Everest, wherein they describe their expedition to the world’s highest mountain. The other four units cover those countries around the slopes of the big Himalayas (India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan) with all their specifics and exotics.

Josef Čapek: Secrets of Paintings
Mirbach Palace, Bratislava, 3 April – 21 June 2009
The Brother of the writer Karel Čapek became famous not only by inventing the word „robot“, but especially as a painter. This profile exhibition of 130 selected works brings the author back to Bratislava after three decades. Two-thirds of the paintings are from private collections. This very demanding exhibition took nearly two years to prepare. The insurance for the exhibits (more than seven million euro) is the highest in the history of the Slovak organisation of exhibitions.

The 1980s – Slovak postmodernism
Slovak National Gallery, Bratislava, 8 April – 31 August 2009
Besides for their typical attribute „revolutionary“, the 1980s had artistic potential, which carried in itself, and virtually predicted, the expected changes to come. The political release brought about by Gorbachev made room for many artistic and cultural activities, which today seem to be decisive for the underground of the culture and arts in the 1980s. The purpose of the exhibition, The Eighties (1985 – 1992), is to take a look back at the Slovak art of that period.
