As a mountainous country, Slovakia can truly pride itself on its many ski slopes and runs, some of which reach an international standard. Ski centres that can be found all over the country welcome thousands of enthusiastic skiers not only from Slovakia but also from abroad; some are happy and keep coming back to the same place, others choose a different ski destination the next year.
The most popular ski resorts include centres below The High Tatras, The West Tatras, The Belianske Tatras, The Low Tatras, Veľká Fatra, Malá Fatra, Kremnické Hills, Oravské Beskydy, Nízke Beskydy, etc.
Park Snow The High Tatras
Štrbské Pleso, which is a part of the High Tatras Snow Park ski
resort, is regarded as one of the best ski resorts in Slovakia. The ski resort
offers excellent slalom, downhill and snowboard runs and cross-country
tracks – it provides over 12 km of maintained ski tracks. More than 7 km of
downhill slopes are maintained using artificial snow. The ski resort is easily
accessible by car, there are good bus, train and plane connections – the
Poprad Tatry airport is close to the resort.
